Post by Dave1 »

If you were going to northern California/central coast this weekend, where would you go? Short hikes, beaches, attractions, etc..?

A regular HAZ member just dropped about 50 hikes into one triplog 9L-style :lol: . You might want to check out some of those. :)

What about the "Lost Coast"? Way north.

@Tough_Boots
Thanks, we did make it there. Awesome scenery but, as one would expect for Labor Day, it was way too crowded. We saw lots of whales feeding (or romancing, I guess. its either one of the two) a ways out off the coast.

There was so much traffic off and on along 1 and 101, we only made it as far north as Monterey. No hikes, just lots of driving.

Too bad about the crowds. I've been there a couple times and it was never a problem-- they used to never even have a sign for it on the 1. I found out about it on a road trip when asking a ranger at the Ventana ranger station about free secluded camping. He said to check out Pfeiffer and that we could camp on the beach. We got to Pfeiffer and saw all the "no camping" signs so we asked the park ranger at the gate. He told us camping was illegal and then smiled and told us he camped on the beach the night before. I hope that town never changes :)
