I-17 to Dugas Road; to FR57 to FR 16A....
will meet at McDonalds on Carefree Highway at 530am... or Bloody Basin Road & Interstate 17 at 615am.
We will follow this route from BBR:
http://hikearizona.com/map.php?GPS=25959
and park at this spot:
http://hikearizona.com/map.php?PSID=290 ... 9&Z=15&M=6
This will be much of 4 wheeling adventure in addition to the hike itself.
The hike will be offered in 3 options:
1) 16A to Verde River and back (4 miles RT)
2) 16A to Verde River then scramble up Squaw Butte back to 16A (5.5 miles RT, estimated)
3) 16A to Squaw Butte summit and back to 16A (3 miles RT)
I will be doing #1, then mountain biking back towards I-17 as far as I can go, while my hike partner, Carlos will be driving back. We are looking to find an ideal location to cache our Mtn. Bikes for our April 2016 25 mile Verde River Packraft from Beasley Flats, as well as ideal spot to plant our exit vehicles.

Re: Squaw Butte
Fun peak. I'm not sure it makes sense to come in from Dugas and drop off the Verde Rim though. It may be longer but I think it's easier to come from Bloody Basin (and either get there via FR24 from Carefree or BB Road from I-17)
Aviator did the drive last year. He might have more to say about it.

@chumley
in April, when we come off the Verde...we will hike up to a point where your photo #38 was taken...your saying we should go south on 16A to 24 and out on Bloody Basin.....road not as bad I take it. Yeah...some of your pix are little steeper then I like, especially if I am a passenger. Thanks for the heads up.

@Peter Medal
I don't know for sure. Seems like it would be easier but since I haven't driven the down from dugas myself I'd be curious to hear what stoic or aviator think.
