Signal and Ten Ewe access

Post by Jim »

I may have asked this before, elsewhere, but is access using this http://hikearizona.com/map.php?GPS=6767 GPS route from Davis1002r6, able to be done by an Outback?

I had to stop at a wash about 1 to 2 miles from the real trailhead for Castle Dome last December, but got most of the way in and walked the rest. I'd like to do more in the KOFA, than simply revisit Castle Dome, which I still intend to do.

It's a moderate high clearance road. Most wouldn't have any trouble in an Outback on that road. Further near the end is probably too rompy for the skittish.

Then I hope to access it and hike those two peaks. Otherwise, I would consider renting an FJ Cruiser, or 4Runner, or something with more beef to it. Thanks, Joe.

Probably a small percentage of Subaru owners would feel comfortable driving that full road. But it can usually be done by the adventurous.

But it's really just the last 2.5-3 miles before the trailhead in Queen canyon that's an issue. It's mostly in a gravelly wash with some river rock to deal with.

The first 8 miles is just a desert dirt road. Mostly nice but a couple drainages that you'll have to slow down through.

So worst case just add a couple road miles to the hike. Those peaks are steep...but short mileage... so some flat road hiking at either end of the day should be no big deal.
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Yeah that's probably a lot more accurate. Hope Jim didn't run out there today :scared:

No, not today. In a couple of weeks, I hope, though.
