Salado dwellings ranged from cliff dwellings to large surface dwellings. They were often built in large blocks containing both living spaces and storage spaces. The Salado grew out of a blending of Hohokam, Anasazi, and Mogollon cultures in the area east of the Phoenix/Tucson basins, and south of the Mogollon Rim. Dwellings could be pit structures or masonry, above-ground structures.
