Picoides dorsalis
Habitat:Coniferous Forests, especially in swampy, logged, or burned zones. Found throughout most of Canada, through the Great Plains and Washington State. South to the Mountains of Arizona and New Mexico.
Description:Robin sized Woodpecker with Black/White barring on Back especially near Rump. Barring may be replaced with White on upper Back. Male has Yellow Crown, Female's Crown in Black.
Comments: Similar to Black-backed Woodpecker, only smaller.
