Common Names: Red Tailed Hawk
Habitat: Open grasslands, forests, deserts.
Description: A medium-sized hawk, the Red Tailed Hawk gets its name from the brick-red top of its tail. This can often be observed from the underside as the bird is flying. The head, neck, and upper part of the wings are brown, whereas the chest and underside of the wings are generally tan-white with darker brown bars.
