This area is West of I-10, between Sunland Gin road and Red Rock, South of Eloy and AZ City. We were looking for the Crested Caracara, which is a Mexican Falcon. We found a flock of 10, they were mixed in with approximately 25 Ravens in a cut down cotton field.
We could only get within 1/4 mile of them due to the private property. We also found areas with hundreds of Sparrows - Brewers, White-Crowned, Vesper! In addition we saw - Prairie and Peregrine Falcons, Mountain Plovers, Horned Larks, 15 Red Tailed Hawks, a possible Golden Eagle, and many more! 40 species total for the day. This is a very 'birdy' area. |
