8.65 mi up in the land of Oz. In my limited experience,..
I rarely see anybody in Romero Canyon, especially heading up past 5-ish miles. Too far from Catalina State Park, so I scratched out the idea of taking it back down.
The majority I see are on the road at the top walking dogs, riding bikes, and seemingly former avid hikers who drive to the top.
Next is the stretch from Wilderness of Rocks #44 up to the road. Most seem to be doing a loop from the top or Marshall Gulch.
Since the first mile was pretty cold, I figured it might be good to have it if I was running late on the way down. By the time I got back to this point, I wasn't concerned about being cold. Curious about the weight, I started to pick it up and quickly realized even in the dry state, it weighed more than anything I would ever consider wearing unless there was a blizzard. So it remains.
