Top photo: The mill was constructed between 1900 and 1902 and was once a massive cotton manufacturing center employing thousands.
Current Status: The site has been preserved by Columbus Historic and features kudzu-covered ruins.
Imagery: The water tower is often featured in photos of the area, sometimes associated with nearby Historic Westville Village. Homes were built for the mill workers and their families. Bibb City had a police department and schools and playgrounds for the children. Many of the current Bibb City residents were employed at the mill. Bibb City has since been incorporated into Columbus because they did not have the tax base to support the services.

Bottom photo: Lots of vines. The Bibb Manufacturing Company was a cornerstone of the Bibb City community, producing print cloth, yarn, and other textiles.
The tall brick CHIMNEY was a prominent feature of the industrial skyline, typical of turn-of-the-century factory construction, which relied on coal or wood for power.
