I tried to line up the Interpretive signs with the buildings. You will see some alterations in the buildings now. In 1919 my grandfather who did business with the TC Power store ended up with a tab of $600 to feed his family. My grandfather did pay it back. This is what he said, "we were broke so flat that both sides and ends had met long ago". You would not believe what he had to do to become one of the most successful ranchers/farmers in Montana. For example in 1919 (the crop got hailed out including the little amount of grass for the cattle) so my grandfather went off to the oil fields 300 miles away to earn some money leaving his family far behind.

He attended public school and graduated from Sinsinawa College with a degree in engineering. He then worked as a surveyor in Dakota until 1860. After settling in Helena in 1876 Power started T. C. Power and Bro, which was a prominent mercantile company through the northwestern United States and western Canada. He served in the United States Senate from January 2, 1890, to March 4, 1895, as one of the first two senators from Montana. He died on February 16, 1923, and was interred in Resurrection Cemetery. The town of Power in Montana is named after him.
