Six generals died, or were mortally wounded, at Antietam. Each is memorialized by a "mortuary cannon", an inverted cannon, at the location of their death/wound, including Maj. Gen. Israel Richardson. I wish generals were still leaders, rather than managers living in rear area safety & comfort.
