Antietam National Cemetery holds mostly Civil War dead (all Union), mostly from the nearby battle, but also a few from other wars (and some of their wives). New burials ceased after 1953. An exception was made in 2000 for Patrick Roy, from nearby Keedysville, who was killed in the attack on the USS Cole.
