UL This red flora is at the top of Devil's Courthouse but Google couldn't help me ID it as I was too far away. This is a zoom. Anyway, it really stood out. LL so much moss covered stuff here and in the Great Smoky Mountains. This was so soft looking... and look how green the ferns are for the end of October.
LR While on top, I didn't see any Peregrine Falcons, I did see this Chinook.
UR Looking to the west. You can see the Blue Ridge Parkway weaving its way along the ridge. I'm not sure but I think that might be Mount Hardy on right and maybe Herrin Knob in center and the one before it Tanasee Bald. FYI - Tanasee in Cherokee means meeting place.
As nouns the difference between MOUNTAIN and KNOB is that mountain is a large mass of earth and rock, rising above the common level of the earth or adjacent land, usually given by geographers as above 1000 feet in height, though such masses may still be described as hills in comparison with larger mountains while knob is a rounded protuberance, handle, or control switch.
