John and Arthur died a month apart at the tail end of the Flu Epidemic from the last century. The in-laws of John also died in Feb of 1920, the same month as their grandson Arthur. John had beat the flu the first time but it struck again and he lost that time leaving two parentless daughters who's mother had died in childbirth. Mary Romain was the first person interred here in 1889, shortly after they had arrived from Lively Grove IL. The story of her death is really quite tragic in regard to John running around trying to find someone to come help. Frank, Mary's husband and father of John, died in 1925 of old age.
