GN Locomotive 181. Great Northern was bot out by Burlington in 1970. Havre, where I was raised, was a major railroad hub. Former Great Northern Railway NW3 diesel locomotive 181 has been preserved and sits beside the mainline. The Great Northern Railway is an integral part of Whitefish. After all, Whitefish owes its existence to the building of the GN Railroad. So, guess its not surprising that an old Great Northern Engine sits right downtown by the Amtrak station. During the winter, the town "dresses" up the engine in rather unique Christmas lights.
