a zoom over Pinto Basin to Pinto Mountain in the NW. One of the few designated hiking destinations is a 3,987 foot summit named just Pinto Mountain, a relatively isolated and prominent peak along the south side of the range, overlooking the vast, sandy flatlands of Pinto Basin; views from the top span an uninterrupted 360 degrees, "I thot this was funny" ...as there are no higher points close by.
There are sand dunes along its base. And I believe it's an important landmark relative to the San Andreas Fault lines (https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Geo ... _276162724).
