It was 5:30 pm. The sky was overcast with thunderstorms. The trail that I had followed to the "Spring" was no longer obvious in the low contrast light. I used my GPS to take me back on the real 288. When I popped out, I saw this sign. (So, in reverse, if you're on trail, the Sping is about 300 feet SW of this sign.)
