See the angels... I don't think I've seen angels quite like the ones with the red-checked skirts. The shell, a symbol of pilgrimage after the patron saint of Spain, Santiago or James the Greater, is replicated all through the structure in window treatments, the sanctuary, the facade and other details within the interior.

The conservation team uses organic rabbit glue inserted behind paint on the walls to fix loose paint. Rabbit glue is made of rabbit cartilage and, based on studies, is known to have been used when the church was first built

The interior is decorated with intricately painted and carved religious imagery, which covers the walls and vaulted ceilings. Wooden statues of Saint Xavier and the Virgin are set into a molded background behind the altar, and throughout the church there are carved wooden statues of Native Americans and other saints. Frescoes depicting the lives of Catholic saints decorate the choir loft and main chamber.
