We parked at Meridian and there were already 8 cars there at 7:30am. When we left, there were parked cars lining both sides of the street. A big group of Girl Scouts seemed to have hijacked the parking lot for the Wind Cave, but I couldn't tell what they were doing out there. Maybe they were setting up to hustle some high dollar cookies. A bunch of moms sitting in lawn chairs were effectively blocking foot traffic to the hiking trails and the restrooms. There were two MCSO cops sitting in a parked cruiser just staring everybody down. Maybe they thought somebody snuck in without paying their six bucks, or perhaps those Girl Scouts were up to no good. Better call for back-up. And, what's with all these people wearing cologne and perfume to go hiking?
While we were hiking the high ridge on the east side, we could see the Fountain Hills fountain fire up for it's hourly 5 minutes of fame. I guess that was the highlight of the trip. |
