| partners | | Of the 3 days we spent on Santa Cruz, I got to go out in the Kayaks twice. Unfortunately, those famous winds were kicking up something horrible, and we weren't able to get in quite as much exploring as we'd hoped (the first day saw 30knot winds in unsheltered areas )
Friday we explored some caves north of the Scorpion Anchorage, but mostly floated on the kelp forest and watched the real-world aquarium below. Sunday we got out very early, and though the sky was foggy and gray, the water was glassy-still and perfect for kayaking. The only complaint that day was that there wasn't enough surf to make the caves exciting! Well, that and the day was too short, since we had to get back on the ferry later that morning.
Still - I really want to try a moonlight kayak out there. I'll have to wait until a trip when the weather is a little calmer. Hmm...sounds like the perfect reason to go back! |
