| partners | | This was our first overnight backpacking trip into the Supes. We've seen some good camping spots while on our many other hikes through the Supes so we had a few ideas of where we wanted to go. It seemed that a lot of good spots were along the Dutchman Trail so we decided to head on down the Dutchman and see where it took us. We started off from the First Water TH around 9:30. After hiking about 6 miles with 30+ pounds on my back I was ready to stop for the day around 1:00. We stopped at a nice spot below Bluff Spring Mountain and wandered around the rest of the day. That night we had a small fire and a little food and spirits . It was not too cold so it was a nice night to be out. The next morning we set out around 10:00 after some morning pictures and breakfast. Against my better judgment we decided to take the Bull Pass Trail on up to the pass and then to the top of Black Top Mesa. As always I was glad we went to the top once we got there. The views of Weavers Needle are great!!! Then it was time for the long hike back to the First Water TH. It seemed like it took forever but we finally made it back. I've never been so happy to end a hike. I always like camping out but I'm sure glad to have a nice hot shower and a cold beer when I'm done. It makes you appreciate the small things in life |
