Overnight tented at Catalina State Park, which was absolutely wonderful, except for the guys that started open fires for a cookout in the middle of a sea of dry grass! The Park had signs displayed very cleary that there were NO FIRES! Why, oh why, can't some people read?

We did this hike on May 18. Started off about 9 (late starters, I know!). The hike was generally pretty easy, some of the switchbacks were a little narrow at points, with some rocky bits, so you might want trekking poles with you. Beautiful views across canyons, which were especially nice as the saguaro were in full bloom! Generally pretty easy going. At one point, there was a great view of a waterfall, which we thought was the destination, but there was no way anybody was going down this canyon, incredibly steep! Luckily a couple were making their way back, and they pointed out the remainder of the trail.

The pools are great.....especially when you need to cool off. Make sure when you arrive at the pools that you continue around and up to the left of the pools, a very short hike will let you climb down much easier.
