| no partners | | Camping on the Mogollon Rim-Cabin Loop area for six days at 7435ft elevation this day three I had originally planned to be an "in camp day" only but..
I am really glad I decided to grab a quart of water, my camera, and cross the road to see what was on the other side of the hill in the upper section of Merritt Draw. This easy to navigate "off trail" hike to view an interesting, hidden, lush green meadow area, and loop around on a well defined use trail its Forest Service protected (fenced) Merritt Draw Riparian Area turned-out to be a hidden gem. 
My only regret was not checking out Merritt Spring which I later realized was within only ~150 yards further up the meadow.. http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=201905 Guess I will need to return for another visit  |
