Living in Southeast Mesa has its advantages. I'm 30 minutes or less away from countless hiking destinations. I like to challenge myself to see what I can accomplish before going to work. Today I knocked out Fremont Saddle via Peralta Trail. Arrived at the trailhead at 5:50am. Jumped out of the vehicle and hit the trail with my headlamp on. At about 2/3's the way up, I turned off the headlamp and continued towards the saddle. Reached the saddle at 6:40, snapped a couple pics of the Needle, then started back down. The sun had just started to pop up over the mountains, I spotted a photo op and positioned myself to catch the sun rising through the eye of a natural arch that is near the top. The photo turned out pretty cool. I stowed the camera and continued down. I reached the trailhead at 7:20, a little later than I had anticipated. Hustled home, showered and got ready for work. Good hike/run.
P.S. - No other hikers or cars at the trailhead from beginning to end. |

This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee. |
