| no partners | | This was my first time at this hiking area. Let's start by saying it was COLD this morning. I'm not sure about the rest of the valley, but here in the Anthem area the wind is funneled between the Bradshaw mountains and New River, it was 50* with a 15-25 mph headwind, brrr. 
The hike was very easy and well marked (with BLM signs) After about a mile their is a small shooting area and garbage against a hill, after that, it's pristine desert and a large amount of mature Saguaros and mixed flora. In fact some of the saguaros are very tall and healthy. At approx 1.85 miles the trail picks up an established jeep road and heads NE, I was only on this main road for a half mile or so until the signage heads you back on to the normal trail system.
At 2.50 miles I came to a wooden BCT trail sign with options of a West or East loop, I chose the East loop. At 3.00 miles I came to a cattle fence and sign, this is a nice turn around point. I actually proceeded another .25 miles just to see what was up further.
All in all it was a good day, and anyone living in the North Valley should check this trail out, especially if you looking for a relaxing hike, with little trail traffic. Your close to town, but you would not know it. |
