| no partners | | From Puntarenas, Costa Rica, on the coast, to San Ramon, in the uplands at around 1400 feet, is a drive of less than 2 hours. I went with my class, riding in a small charted bus, to visit a coffee mill, a sugar mill, and to see the agricultural area. We also stopped and tasted sugar cane moonshine at someone's home! Pura Vida!
It was a very fun day. Our professor even treated us to dinner, at a mall in San Ramon, which is a town about the size of Flagstaff. Guess what we ate? KFC and Burger King! I sat in the back of the bus and sang rock songs all the way home with the guys who were sitting in the back seat.
A lot of the scenic photos were taken from the bus as we rode through the countryside. It looks a lot like where I used to live, in Kona, Hawaii, up in the coffee groves. |
