| no partners | | Decided to go back and try to locate the cemetery. Turns out I almost found it last time, but I had to bail as thunderstorms were bearing down. Just like two weeks ago, an elegant trogon could be heard as I wandered around. Then it was on to Parker Canyon Lake where I planned to camp, but heavy thunderstorms kind of turned it into a muddy mess, so decided to try that another time. After enjoying the storm action around the lake, I headed over to the Black Oak Cemetery near Canelo to find Mr. McIntyre's grave (Sunnyside's last resident). What a lovely pioneer cemetery that is.
Took the long way home by way of Canelo Hills, San Rafael Valley, Patagonia, and Nogales, enjoying the glory of the monsoon the whole way! Got some nice sunset shots at Patagonia Lake, as the thunderstorms continued. The Santa Cruz River was running strong at Nogales and even stronger in Tucson when I got back late evening. Likely missed the storm of the summer at my house (1.72 inch rain and 50+ wind gust). I didn't mind, especially since my roof stayed intact, unlike during last year's monster.
Note: since I was last there two weeks ago, a storm has blown a dead tree onto one of the crumbling houses (Gattrell). |
