I always wonder what the scenery would be like had the recent fires not scorched through the area. However, there are still some breathtaking views along the way.
We started up Brown's trail to the saddle at 12:30PM. This was my second trip to Brown's saddle and Cynde's first. I had tried to brief her on the beauty of the area, but she was still left in awe. Not allot of activity on the trail this day. Just a few hikers coming down and a party following a few hundred yards behind us. We reached Brown's saddle at 1:50PM due to our numerous stops for pictures. The view was awesome!
I started my first attempt at the peak as just a trail finding expedition. I was able to make my way to the scree chute and all the way up to the last steep wall. By then the 30min that I had allowed myself for this short expedition had expired. And rather than leaving Cynde at the saddle wondering as to my whereabouts, I took a few pictures and headed back down the chute and returned to the saddle. With the peak so close and a firm grasp of the correct route, I will be back to complete my trek to the top.
The hike back to the trail head was brisk and the views were once again breathtaking. My next run at the peak will start out much earlier, 7am to be exact.
I highly recommend the hike up Brown's trail to anyone who has not been to the Four Peaks. It is highly rewarding for such a short hike. |
