We were to enjoy the sunset from the area near all the observatories. Joel and I just couldn't handle that there actual summit was near by. So we jumped on the trail and headed to the top which is 13,796 ft above sea level. Mauna Kea is a volcano that has experienced some glaciation. So much of the volcanic rock has been pulverized into small pieces. This just enhanced that starkness of the peak. |
