As short as my first climb was today it was demanding enough to take a break before heading off on this one. Good thing, as this climb was easily three times the effort of the first.

I followed the first 100 yards of the route on my first hike before starting the climb along the southern slope. Although I had a pretty solid route planned it appeared I'd have to traverse a very steep loose terrain section so I turned up toward the ridge sooner than planned. As I would find out, I should have stuck with the plan, but no matter, I had to climb up sooner or later anyway.

Once on the ridge it was flat, but still very rocky and with plenty of thorny brush, yet just open enough I could avoid most of it albeit following a very meandering route. Closer to the summit the thorny brush gave way to grass and finally all rocks.

I took the usual summit pan video and photos before heading back. About halfway back I stopped for my second 'lunch' of the day, enjoying an awesome view at the same time.

For the return trip I followed my original route plan pretty close along the slope, only to make one slight miscalculation in which I slid into a small bowl with only two choices to climb out, through very heavy cats-claw or the option I chose, climb a tree far enough to hop over onto a ledge, following it until I could climb out. Once that fiasco was over with I reconnected with my track outbound track so as not to fall into any other traps.

Back at the car I simply didn't have the energy to take on the third peak I had a planned route for. Next time.

As usual, I'm posting a batch of photos on HAZ with the full set on my website.
A 75-second 360-dgree summit pan video is here:
