| partners | | After the Vulture Peak hike, a few of us attempted to find a route up Red Picacho. We dropped down by the tank which had recently been inspected by adeq inspector number 29 and we were off. The off-trail was much tamer then any of us expected and we made good time. Red Pistachio got closer and closer and before we knew it we were looking for a route up. Todd and I tried two routes that we probably could have climbed up but the downclimb would have been . We went back to the saddle and Patrick was trying a route I had eyed on my first pass by. Todd tried the same route and then decided it was time to head to White Pistachio. We parted ways with the two P's.
White pistachios are so much better and don't leave red stains on your fingers. The trek over to White from Red was tame off-trail and the little "climbing" was easy scrambling. We enjoyed a beverage from the homeland of one of my great grandfather Thomas Cornelius Hyde and enjoyed the views. The trip down was a little different then the way up but it was just easy desert off-trail.
Thanks Patrick,Preston, and Todd for joining me and thanks again for driving Todd. Denny napped while we were gone. |
