I contoured north below the western side of the summit block via a shoddy use trail until I saw exactly what I was hoping for - a ramp leading to the top of the block. The movements were reminiscent of Vulture Peak's chute, but the ramp was open on one side. The top of the peak is a relatively flat, narrow ridge. Unfortunately, one end is completely thrashed, with "IFT" draw out with spray painted rocks (I think it was plastered, too) and other numerous spray paint tags. It's the worst looking mountain top I've ever seen. There is a small trunk chained to the bedrock and upon opening it, I discovered two cans of spray paint, one empty, the other with a lot more to go. Are you pumpkining kidding me? Such a disappointing sight.
I packed out both cans so hopefully that's the end of that. I would have taken all of the other crap but I figured it to be no harm. Now if only I could get rid of the giant IFT.
Fun peak, though. Happy to finally get up there. Lots of other ridges/peaks in the area that look like they'd be fun. |
