Decided to explore off-trail into the "Mescal Pit" area to see the spring. It's quite a nice place down there! There is a flat area with a pit used to cook mescal hearts, and its appears very fertile down there as much was overgrown. There several caves and Sycamore trees at the spring itself, as well as a large pool below the spring (in Tortilla Creek). Very cool looking canyon walls in the area as well. There is a sweet Arch in the top of the canyon wall above the spring. It only becomes visible as you get rather close to the spring itself. "Mescal Arch" i decided to call it :)

Water was seeping from the rockside, and the creek was flowing well. Filtered water from a little waterfall & enjoyed the fresh looking pools nearby. It's been pretty dry weather, so I was surprised how much flow there was down there. Based on the Sycamores I would think it has water available most of the year
