For any Dutchman Hunters who may have read the book " True Story Of Superstition Mountains Ripples Of Lost Echos " by Bob Ward, You would know this book documents and presents the notion that this trip was a route followed quite frequently by the Lost Dutchman when he returned time after time to these mountains. I located several of the clues laid out by the book. Following Whitlow Canyon North of Queen Valley on Apacheland Drive you are traveling on State Trust Land in an area frequented by few. We spent the day exploring on quad and hiking, locating several mines, and tremendous rock formations. Several of the mines had indications they were copper in nature. Concluding with a four mile trek on Coffee Flat all in my party were impressed and had no idea the mountains could be penetrated this far by vehicle. This would make a great car camp for long trips to La Barge Canyon making it a fairly easy day trip. Pictures and Route to be submitted. Route would also be a great Mountain Bike Trip. |
