It was a gift in return for him helping out when my wife had a medical scare a few years ago. (Helpful hint: If you have fainting spells, it may be due to cardiac arrhythmia; get your ticker checked!) He had fun, but was too sore to race on Sunday. While he chatted with my wife -- his dad's sister -- I flagged the first two-hour race, then drove in the next two two-hour races. Though it threatened to rain all day, it was thankfully dry. Racing in the wet, on slicks, sucks worse than Danica Patrick. However, it was warm and, due to many days of previous rain, incredibly humid.
Indiana's freeways resemble the road from Khafji to Kuwait City in 1991. (Though the worst road I've ever been on was I-20 through Shreveport, LA. ) The fields are beautiful, and the corn was looking good. I bought a lottery scratch ticket whose grand prize is a 20-year supply of bacon -- which is the greatest idea ever. Unfortunately, I did not win. So, I need to go back to Indiana for next year's race!
Btw, anybody interested in a HAZ karting event at one of the local indoor tracks? (Or even at Bondurant, later in the year?)
