Zoey(my dog) and I got an early start leaving the trailhead at about 0700. Not realizing it at first, we completed the trail in reverse (counterclockwise). So in our case, the beginning of the trail was not much more than a leisure walk next to the lake and then along a portion of the Prescott Trail(Peavine Trial). Shortly after the halfway point, the trail began to get a bit more technical with some narrow passes and steeper climbs.
Surprisingly, for most of the trip Zoe and I were pretty isolated. There was the occasional jogger on the flatter portions, but other than that it was fairly tranquil in the beginning. It wasn't until the last 1.5 miles that we began to notice more hikers.
Side note, if you are intending on taking a dog make sure he/she is acclimated to narrow/steep tail conditions.
Happy hiking!
