| no partners | | It feels so strange posting a triplog over a year later… AND with no GPS route to go along with it; [I literally did not even know how to use an App until around July/August of 2015]. At any rate, I figured I’d write a few lines to go along with the Photoset I just posted:
The TLC Hiking Meetup Group planned a fun weekend getaway to LHC and we hit up Signal Peak on the way back to the PHX area. This short summit hike was a blast across the board with spectacular views throughout. The views mid-way to the summit of Signal are better than the views from the top of many peaks. And the section toward the top where things suddenly open up take “awesome views” to a whole new level. In fact, several folks in our group had done Half Dome and said that the views en route to Signal Peak were on par with the views at Yosemite. After having done Half Dome / hiked in Yosemite for the first time later that year, I have to agree. In addition to amazing views, I also remember several sections where the route goes over large rock slabs/up drainages, at times requiring some easy but fun scrambling. The hike to Signal Peak is one of the select few that have made my “I will totally repeat!” list; enough said! |
