| no partners | | After our Huckaby hike we had a quick lunch and headed over to Oak Creek Homestead trail. I had never done this one before and I was going off of directs and maps I had stored in my head. Well that didn't work too well and we missed a turn or two and did the extreme short version. Its ok as it was pouring down rain at this point with not much visability.
We opted to head over to Schnebly hill road and take the scenic route back to I-17 before heading home. This turned out to be a good choice.
I had been on Schnebly Hill road several times, the last time though was many years ago and it was with limited day light as we were in a hurry to make it up on the hill to set up camp before it was completely dark. This time there was no rush, just time to enjoy. One thing I noticed is the trail is a lot more rocky than I remember. I like it this way and I hope it stays like this. I wouldn't go as far as to say 4wd is required but you really need some clearance. Last time I remember a boring dirt road. The weather turned out great. The rain had let up and was now just a nice trickle, this made for some nice little water falls along the way and there were times when the clouds were covering the mountain tops. A perfect way to end our day in Sedona.
