| no partners | | Jon and I explored the west side of Kaua'i with a trip to Waimea Canyon. He wasn't in the mood to hike as much today as he wanted to get out to sea. We compromised with a short trail along the cliffs which led to a small waterfall. The views were breathtaking, as the Waimea Canyon is the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. A small section (1/4 mile) of descent on an open cliff would have been extremely treacherous in the rain. Thankfully, this side of the island does not receive as much rainfall as the tropical north shore, so the conditions were dry. The soil was loose and despite good tread and solid footing, I slipped slightly a couple of times. |
