| partners | | Interesting historical location. The springs here were a key water source for early travelers. The fertile valley served the ancients, the Paiutes who still live here, and then early Mormon settlers. Took the tour of the Fort. The spring actually ran beneath the fort and out into some holding ponds and a stream at one time. The water table is lower now, the valley drier, and it isn't a 5 day trip to St George. Thus, the once important Pipe Springs is just a speed bump on the way to somewhere else. But it is a great look back into early life in the West. |
