Bought a snow shovel and wanted to try it out with a snow shelter project.
Drove up the Swift Trail to 9000 ft land and the closed winter gate.
Took off hiking down the snowy road to wherever I end up.
Got to Treasure Park where I met a couple of loggers who were on a thinning project, turns out that one of the loggers is the brother of a good friend. They told me the road around Treasure Park had been cleared and no snowshoes required to hike it ..... cool, Treasure Park loop it was.
beautiful loop around the big meadow covered in 3-4 feet of pristine snow!
I then backtracked up to the Swift Trail and took it a little further down to Hospital Flat for a look around.
Hospital Flat back to the closed gate ended today's snow hike.
Always so cool to hike down this closed road in winter and have everything to myself.
Wildlife spotted on this one was - 3 does, 5 Abert's & 1 unidentified swooping hawk.
And ..... I constructed IMO one Bad A snow shelter in a bank at Treasure Park, mission accomplished!
