| no partners | | Came across a 1984 BLM publication online late last night on the prehistory of Gila Box.
I knew within 10 minutes of reading it that I would be in the Dry Canyon area the next day chasing down a vague lead to something cool I never knew about. I first parked and hiked up Dry Canyon and ..... Wow, I had forgotten what a cool canyon this was! I took it up 1.5 miles with a short trip into a nice little slot canyon. The overcast and dark sky above gave the canyon a dramatic look today and I marveled at the rock around every bend. A climb out and up to one of the jeep roads brought me back to the start completing a loop.
I then went searching on my lead between Spring Canyon & Baker Canyon. It took me about an hour, but I was able to locate a rock ..... a rock overlooking the Gila River with old pictures on it!
