This was a training hike. Loaded my pack to about 30lbs. Beautiful day. Started from Spur Cross TH. Water was running pretty good in Cave Creek and in some side canyons from some recent rains. My goal was the first fence at 6.25 miles. I felt good so I pushed on to the next fence at 7.25 miles. Did not push on to the Skunk Tank junction. Saw several javelina at about the 5 mile area. But I could not get close enough for a good shot before they ran away. Saw lots of signs of Mule Deer but did not see any mulies. Surprised a squirrel. I was surprised at the change in vegetation between the fences. A cluster of Yucca Elata at about the 5 mile mark. Should provide a great photo when they bloom.
