| no partners | | After going to Nogales Mexico for a much needed hair cut I decided to take advantage of the perfect weather and hit a border hike. Montana Peak has been on my wish list for quite sometime. Today would be the day to scratch that itch. Ruby road #39 was loaded from start to finish with lots of weekend campers and picnic gatherings. I drove towards the mountain and decided to make the former mining town of Ruby my starting point.
There were several weekenders here enjoying themselves on the playa made from the mines tailings. This would serve as a great place to park and start heading up the side of the mountain. All went well with the exception of a small amount of cat-claw. Otherwise I had a clean go at it from bottom to top.
I was amazed by how many have been to the summit and signed the register. Several pages worth!
Afterwards I explored around the old buildings in Ruby and then headed to Sycamore Canyon. Really cool area for sure. |
