The Piedra Trail is in great shape and very scenic after it opens up to some nice meadows and views around miles 2-3. The trail is a pretty popular trail, but even on Memorial Day we did not feel overwhelmed by the crowds, who really fall off after the first couple of miles anyways. Fishing seems to be popular along this trail, as well as climbing during the first few miles. The detour to the ice caves, or more appropriately fissures is worth it and the little loop offers probably some of the best views in the area. |
