| no partners | | I was considering a triplog from the hotel exercise room and a selfie on the elliptical. I know how much the HAZ community likes those... but I decided against it and went for a bike ride instead. I literally have no idea how the AEG is anything over 2 feet!
I started on the Riverwalk and headed downstream. I was honestly stunned to see how much water flows in the Mississippi. There is a seriously impressive current for a such a flat landscape. There was some construction so I had to ride around Woldenberg Park and made my way over to the Crescent Park Trail which stretches for a mile along the river. Tempting as it may have been, I did not ask to share the joint some folks were smoking, and I probably piqued their paranoia as I stopped to take some photos. Farther down I stopped at Piety Wharf, a cool little spot with some artsy crap and good views of the city.
When Crescent ends I continued downriver toward The End of the World, a point on the corner of the Mrs. Ippi and the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal that connects to Lake Pontchartrain and the Intracoastal Waterway.
The road ended at the East Bank Naval Support Activity, a former Navy base that relocated to Norfolk about ten years ago. There's still something going on there though because I was quickly chased away by security guards, and they were not at all pleased that I took a photo. Docked there is the 700-foot MV-Cape Kennedy, a Navy ship.
So I rode back a few miles to Bourbon Street, bought a beer, and rode through the crowds one-handed enjoying the sights. |
