I took my family on this hike along with our dog and everyone loved it! The scenery all along the trail, especially at the top, is breathtaking. The museum at the start of the hike was a great way to learn about the Native people who lived in this region. We also benefited from the many plaques and signs along the trail that point out different types of dessert plants and historical facts about the area.

I took my 2 year old son in a backpack and the 40 added pounds barely registered. The hike is steep but is laid out in a zig-zag, making it doable. With plenty of places to rest along the trail, you should be fine to hike this no matter what shape you are in.

We ran into a couple of people who, upon seeing our dog, were sad that they didn't bring their own. Mozart LOVED it. He could not go into the dwelling but was able to go all the way up to the top. I recommend bringing the dogs along for a beautiful day outside in Arizona. Bring plenty of water, enough for you AND your animals.
