| no partners | | On our way to take Hites Ferry, we checked out a cliff dwelling noted on our atlas. I don't know if it was called "The Castle" after the nearby creek, or if the naming went the other way around. For being so close to the road and obviously visited by many a folk, it was surprisingly well preserved. The mortar in the walls of the dwelling had countless fingerprints, there were metates and (what I presume to be) grinding holes in the bedrock, and faint glyphs on the walls. It was a nice break from driving and we had the place to ourselves. |
