The river was running about seven times lower than last year, but that did not deter from the good times and the boys had a blast. The portion of river we ran had nine rapids and was rated class three. Our guide described our section of river as, “boney.” Some of the interesting/fun rapid names were: the toilet bowel, dead man’s drop, the squeeze and pin ball. I really enjoyed this short intro into rafting and it piqued my interest a little for another rafting trip one day. It was also a very rewarding experience to introduce some pretty citified teenagers to a little slice of the great outdoors. There were a lot of emotions on display ranging from pure elation and joy to excitement and a maybe a little bit of absolute fear. Overall, a great activity for team team building and I think a truly memorable experience for some of those young men.
We arranged our trip through Threerivers Resort and Outfitting. The trip took about two hours to complete and that included the shuttle. The learning curve was pretty quick and our guides were great. I think the most difficult part of the day was the freezing cold water and the awkward way you have to dig your feet into the bottom of the raft to keep you from falling out. |
