Met up with one of the locals to play tour guide at Catalina State Park. The day started off hot and humid, this was a pretty swampy run. The intent was to do a loop of Sutherland and the 50 Year Trail. Somewhere near the Wilderness Boundary we got off track and spent some time exploring a wash, then bushwhacked over to Sutherland Wash. From here followed Sutherland Wash back to the parking lot.

This is again the first of what I imagine will be many trips here. Takes less than 15 minutes to get here from my house. Plus learned that there is a long standing Tuesday morning running group that meets here, so going back in a few days for that.

My informal observation of my new neighborhood seems to be that if you want to retire to play golf you move to Phoenix. But if you want to retire to go hiking, running or cycling you move to northwest Tucson. Weekend mornings every road and trail around here has a mature crowd out enjoying the desert. There are enough outdoorsy people around here to support a satellite location of the Summit Hut.
